Remember the episode ‘A Woman’s Right To Shoes,’ in Sex & The City? Carrie is invited to a friend’s baby shower and asked – under duress – to remove her shoes (‘but it’s the look!’) – only to discover they’ve been stolen at the end of the party.
(There’s a whole other conversation here, because Carrie’s host first agrees to pay for the missing shoes, only to discover they cost $500 and then refuses. Carrie is shoe-shamed! So she tots up how much she – as a single woman – has spent on friends’ weddings, baby showers and other assorted presents and sets up her own register at Manolo Blahnik to recoup the stolen shoes!)

Anyway my point is, that Carrie is right – often your shoes DO make your outfit. But what do you do when you have no plans to leave the house and still want to look festive? I would feel a bit silly wandering around my own house on Christmas Day wearing heels, but I still want to look as though I have made an effort.
The answer could lie in a pair of party flats – glam heel-free options that aren’t quite slippers, but not far off. Comfort is king people!
