Interior design is my passion. Always has been. I was the child who would stroke the pages of mum’s Laura Ashley catalogue and decide which rug and wallpaper I’d have when I was a grown up in my own flat.
So it’s a real thrill that I am now working on creative collaborations with interior brands, where I can push my design skills!
Earlier this year Hillary’s Blinds asked me to be part of their #ILoveThatStyle project, alongside brilliant design duo 2LG, esteemed homes journalist Claudia Baillie and ex-journo turned blogger Pink House Living.
They were building a campaign around their roller blind collection (check it out here) and my brief was to come up with a space that encapsulates an Urban Glamour look.
My starting point was selecting a roller blind (I chose the Xavier fabric in ivory) that I wanted to layer with a Roman blind (I chose the Nexus fabric in blush). In an urban environment, you might not necessarily want to block the light, but you might want the privacy – so this semi sheer blind works perfectly.
Once the blinds were sorted, I really wanted the contrast of the blush pink with a deep green and I chose Studio Green by Farrow & Ball for the walls. One wall was panelled, to give a depth and focus to the dark colour, with a seating area made up of a variety of textures. This amazing chair is from Graham & Green.
The other end was more of an ‘Instagram’ corner with a neon light, a brass clothing rail and full length mirror.
The cushions and carpet are from a selection at Hillarys – with some more textured cushions from Rockett St George.
I wanted to keep all the accents brass to add to the glamour vibe, so we sourced some amazing side tables from Rockett St George. The rug, bed and the statement overhead light both came from a prop house, but you could find similar here for the bed, here for the light and here for the rug.
Here are some of my behind the scenes shots from the day. And for more information on the project (and to see the other brilliant room designs!), check out here. And click here to take the Hillarys Pinterest quiz to find out what room style you have.
