My Style: If you can’t beat the January Blues, wear them…

ms5January is the time to make a clean slate. The first chapter of a 365 page book. Whether it involves going on a juice cleanse, trying to incorporate more exercise into your life or promising to find yourself the dream job, it’s a month that feels POSITIVE.

Or does it? Some years, January just feel DEPRESSING. It’s cold, miserable, you don’t have any money and feel as though you possibly overdid the cheeseboard at Christmas.

My philosophy? Don’t dread the January Blues, wear them instead!

By mixing up stripes, navy separates and denim, you’ll feel pulled together and on top of everything. Adding a cheery splash of red will definitely warm the cockles.

Marks & Spencer’s Autograph range is where I found this coat and it’s the ultimate in January wardrobe pleasers. Double breasted, way-below-the-knee length (so it will work with midi skirts, as well as cropped trousers like these jeans) and in a classic colourway that you will love forever – this one is a keeper.

I’ve teamed it with this slinky long sleeve top from M&S (now in the sale) and added a pop of colour with the red shoes that I now own in both colourways (the others are black).
