A few weeks ago I was invited by Danone Light* & Free to their Country Getaway in the Cotswolds.
For a moment, the day almost did get away thanks to a disastrous journey. But Dan (Dan) the Uber man got me to the absolutely drop-dead, stunning Oxfordshire location in record time.
To celebrate that lovely light and free Summer vibe as we head into Autumn, the plan was learning how to cook a healthy, seasonal feast in their kitchens (with marble worktops, dark blue tongue and groove panelling and rustic tables = totally #kitchengoals).
I don’t know about you, but Autumn generally equals hibernation for me. Extra cosy jumpers means not worrying so much about Saturday night curries over the X Factor, while lots of red wine is – according to my rules of Autumn – totally acceptable.
But what was so lovely about taking part in the cookery lesson, was seeing the breadth of seasonal vegetables and produce (picked from their cottage garden, obviously!) that you can use in such varied ways. We made pickles and miso coleslaws to eat with hot roast chicken – and it was delicious. But read on for the yoghurt-based dessert recipe that blew my mind.
Being active and avoiding the hibernation tactic is going to be my mission this Autumn – particularly when the weather is so unseasonally mild. Plus as the kids have just learned to ride their bikes, it would be wrong not to join in – right!?
Thanks to Danone Light* & Free for inviting me on their country getaway. This post was written in collaboration with them, but all words, thoughts and photography is my own work.
