My Style: The coolest way to wear the fabric of the season (clue: on your feet)

Tis the season of velvet. Think gothic, think fitted blazers with flamboyant pussy bow blouses worn with velvet pencil pleat skirts.

Or don’t. Perhaps, like me, velvet is something you prefer wearing in moderation.

I love the idea of adding a little bit to an autumn outfit to show you know what’s up, but equally, it’s on your terms – in your style.

Which is why I LOVE these velvet plimsolls from M&S. They’re in a gorgeous wine colour, comfortable, chic AND they’re under £30.

I’ve worn them with cropped, wide leg trousers and a slouchy, comfortable cashmere jumper – which is my perfect running around day look.

Teamed with this brilliant grey overcoat (another bargain, under £70 for a classic style you’ll wear for years), I love the colour combo of the wine, dusky pink and grey altogether.

M&S have got some amazing footwear this season – but for now, these trainers give my feet a little bit of new season style.
