Five On Wednesday #1

It’s been quite a while since I compiled an honest-to-goodness shopping post of items and pieces I’ve either bought and love, or desperately want. Which isn’t hard. What’s that famous Pinterest quote that does the rounds every now and again? ‘I’m not needy, I’m wanty.’ Yep, that’s me.

Anyway. Waffling.

So each Wednesday I’ll be picking the five things that are currently floating my boat. Expect a lot of coats (so many nice transitional ones coming in right now) and some decor bits I may have spotted that wouldn’t be an entire post, but I need to tell you about regardless.

First one up: Bobbi Brown’s Skin Serum Concealer. Now this is a revelation for me – a person who, despite being on the wagon for the entire month of January and who now inhales fresh country air on a daily basis, has the darkest eye bags and more spots than when I was a teenager. Realistically I appreciate this is probably a result of the change of water and my body releasing all those horrible toxins, but COME ON, spots!? Anyway, this serum concealer comes with a wand so just requires a couple of dabs under the eye and then patting down with your ring finger. It gives great coverage and feels really light on – highly recommend.

Boden’s ‘Carrie’ coat is the perfect, slouchy, throw-it-on, slightly oversized Spring jacket. It also comes in an amazing zingy yellow, which I adore, but appreciate some people find yellow difficult, so I’ve added the navy here. Chuck it on over vintage 501s or baggy boyfriend jeans and a grey marl sweatshirt for easy, chic weekend wear. Love.

OB-sessed with Etsy at the moment. It takes some serious scrolling, but once you’ve favourited a few things, their clever algorithms direct lovely things your way. I’ve earmarked some amazing artwork (I will do a post soon) and there are brilliant creatives selling crockery and paper goods that will BLOW YOUR MINDS. This little spotty plant pot just really pleases me.

V-Day isn’t far off. We’re not major romantics in this house – I mean, obvs I love him and that, but we memorably once spent Valentine’s evening in a curry house with my dad on a table sprinkled with heart glitter. And it was great! But if you are the sort to get all fuzzy on February 14th you can’t go far wrong with this gorgeous bra from & Other Stories. Obviously unless you’re over a C-cup, in which case it’s basically useless. But so pretty.

And finally, if you’re after a shoe that’ll tempt your feet out of ankle boots or hi-tops – look no further than the tassled loafer. Making a major comeback in expensive (but beautiful) form at Gucci, they’re now being seen all over the high street too. This navy pair from Finery will add an edge to a work look or a casual cropped jean.
