Coat, Jigsaw (old season, similar here) | Top, J Crew | Jeans, Levis UK | Hi-top trainers, Seven Boot Lane | Bag, Anya Hindmarch at Monniers Freres
Hello! And I’m back! Hope you all had a great new year – and the shift from the sofa back to the daily grind hasn’t been too taxing.
To kick off, it’s all about colour on this grey January day – specifically one we’ll all be wearing this summer, guaranteed.
Pink, in all its forms, is everywhere. Colour experts Pantone have even decreed that rose quartz (baby pink, with a bit of an edge) is the shade of the year.
It ‘s a shade spectrum that will work for everyone – because you just need to find the one that will make your skin glow.
Rosy, subtle hues suit every skin tone – and will mix perfectly with leather or denim for an edgier look. Think evening skies or the colour of Pink Lady apples.
I’ve worn blush pink here with black and trainers, which gives it a far less prim vibe. But it works equally well with other pastel shades for a cool summer look. The coat I’m wearing is a Jigsaw buy from a few years ago, but I still get an awful lot of wear out of it because it just works with so many of my go-to colours (grey, navy – even burgundy).
And at the other end of the spectrum, magenta works beautifully with charcoal grey or even splashes of turquoise.
It’s also the perfect home decor accent. Farrow & Ball’s ‘Calamine’ is having a moment, although hot pink is the hue I’d choose for my daughter’s bedroom (or for a lipstick if I’m feeling a bit washed out (Funny Face by Nars is my favourite, see below).
In other words, it’s the on-trend colour choice of the moment.
