It’s fair to say that with a four (and a half) year old in reception and a two (and a half) year old out of nappies and at pre-school, my baby days are over. That’s FO’ SHO. No more for us. No. Way.
In fact, now Lila’s in her big bed we’ve just passed our lovely Mamas & Papas cot bed on to friends and I think, with the exception of the McLaren buggy – there isn’t any baby paraphernalia left.
But that isn’t to say I don’t like to keep abreast of the baby world – particularly when something brand new launches. So I was excited to be given a tour of M&S Baby – their new dedicated one-stop shop available in six stores and online.
Alongside their own range of nursery furniture and products pulled from their home collection including lighting (more of which later), they are stocking a careful edit of baby products from eight brands including BabyBjorn, Avent and Joie.
With space in the store for inspirational room-sets, I was really impressed by the merchandising which pulled in lovely pieces from their home department that you might otherwise have missed. For example, a gorgeous Ercol x M&S Scandi rocker made a really cute nursing chair, especially with a snuggly throw over it.
And cool paper lanterns would add a modern twist to an older child’s bedroom.
The great news is that they’ve taken a sophisticated path down the colour themes – much needed in the high street’s current baby offering as I have learned.
Whether you’re expecting or after present ideas, it’s well worth a mooch. I was very impressed by the stylish pieces. Plus, expectant parents can take advice from staff with check-lists and specialist videos.
Here are some of my favourite pieces, which you don’t need a baby for as they all make great additions to any child’s bedroom.
- Elephant & giraffe pegs, £9.50
- Grey pom pom throw, £69
- Animal stacking light, £39.50 (Love this! So Jonathan Adler!)
- Set of 4 prints, £9.50 (gorgeous colours and they would grow with your child)
