Meet your cold weather BFF. If you haven’t yet seen a faux (or real sheepskin) gilet you like yet, then this is the post for you.
Because seriously, get involved. It’s a no-brainer trend that will work whatever your shape and whatever your dress style (Kate Moss and Middleton both rock them and I think we can all agree they couldn’t be more opposing, sartorially speaking.)

My sheepskin gilet is from luxury British sheepskin and leather specialist label Dom Goor and yes, while it is v. expensive, the classic colour and fact it is reversible (the other side is leather) means it’s something I will wear for years and years. They stock online and at Harvey Nichols.
Longer-length is the current style du jour, particularly with lots of texture. Wear over a leather jacket and a floral flirty dress, or give a pair of baggy trousers more of a feminine twist by layering over a shirt.
Real sheepskin isn’t cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but you can get some brilliant fake versions that give a similar effect.
I particularly love the Unreal Fur version and the Next gilet, which I would buy in the next size up and belt in. Jigsaw’s knitted style too is a fantastic investment piece that you’ll wear forever.
Here’s the MMM Approved gilet edit:

I decided a while ago that I needed to get myself a good gilet for my wardrobe, now it is autumn I will definitely have to have a look at these options. I also love the lace up shoes for something a bit different, can that style be worn well with trousers too?
Erica
Yes definitely Lauren! Wear them with trousers that are slightly cropped to the ankle or go for long wide leg styles – both really on trend this season!
