There are some high street stores you always head to, while others are your go-to for special occasions.
For example Coast may not necessarily be on your Saturday morning rummage schedule, yet it would probably be your first port of call for a wedding outfit.
Jigsaw has always been a bit like that for me. During my teens I would save every pound from my babysitting stash and spend it in the Chester store on their really long, chunky ribbed polo necks – which I then wore with everything.
During my twenties (and probably until recent years), I didn’t visit as often because I’ve been less inclined with sophisticated buys and more interested in throwaway fashion.
Oh how times have changed. And if you haven’t been in a Jigsaw for a while, believe me it is time to get back on that saddle.
I visited the brand’s beautiful Duke Street Emporium, just off London’s Oxford Street and was spoilt for choice.

Classic, simple knits nestled against beautifully cut tailoring and amazing boots (Oh the boots!)
And amongst gorgeous bags, pom-poms (the one I keep Instagramming is from Jigsaw), plus really on-trend skirts, I made a bee-line for their classic pieces that you would – literally – wear forever.
A simple navy peacoat with a beautiful electric blue flash under the collar was an instant lust-have, plus a really elegant, longline silk blouse that could be worn a million different ways was another.
The coat was a definite investment piece – so here’s how I worked it 3 days 3 ways. Cost per wear and all that….
DAY 1
Coat + fluffy ombre jumper + last season’s COS skirt (similar here)
MMM TIP: I love the unexpected clash of the maroon with this orangey-red skirt – the navy colour anchors them together.
DAY 2
Coat + long blue silk shirt + navy knit from Zara (similar here) + MIH jeans + Adidas Stan Smith from Schuh
MMM TIP: The smarter jacket makes this simple outfit work much harder
DAY 3
Coat + silk shirt + striped knit (added later for warmth) + black trousers from Zara (similar here) + Cleo boots + old season Jaeger bag (similar here)
MMM TIP: This is a kind of no-brainer outfit in very classic colours, which means you can wear anywhere. I love the combination of longer shirt tails poking out of shorter jumper too.
*THANKS TO JIGSAW FOR HELPING ME WITH THIS {3 DAYS 3 WAYS} POST*

I was in their Blackheath store yesterday. Made me want to sell a kidney but I reigned it in and just bought a lovely clutch for a very lucky friends birthday.

I was just the same as you in my twenties and I spent every Saturday combing through the rails to see what I hadn’t bought! And I am still wearing their silk shirts from 16-18 years ago – they are that good. They kind of went off the radar for me from when I had children as I no longer had the same level of disposable income and I also couldn’t bring myself to wear their lovely jumpers to be coated in baby food and other choice stuffs. But I agree they do have some wear forever pieces and I always love their shoes!
And your pea coat is lovely and a great investment. I love the styling especially with the skirt – I like seeing different ways of wearing classic pieces like this despite knowing I will most likely be wearing with a pair of jeans myself. Ah well.
