After Cara Delevingne stormed the Giles Deacon catwalk at LFW wearing Wool & The Gang‘s ‘Ekk’ beanie, demand was such that ‘The Gang’s’ knitting needles were <almost> on fire.

The fashion brand – in case you haven’t already heard about it – is a modern concept based upon the craft movement, where a team produce knit kits that you can buy and make yourself, or get one of ‘The Gang’ to knit for you – for a bit more money, obviously.
And now they have just launched their first baby collection of surf-inspired knits – a perfect gift whether you knit it or not. Some of my most memorable baby gifts were knitted pieces that friends (and friends mums) had made for the kids – so gorgeous and I’ll keep them forever.

With the easy-to-learn kits, you are able to personalise your choice with the baby’s name and date of birth, but – if like me you would struggle to knit one, never mind purl one – there are simplified patterns that will take you through the steps and the online tutorials on the website to make sure that you won’t get stuck.
“The Baby Gang collection is inspired by beach babies, experiencing surf and sun for the first time,” said Aurelie Popper, co-founder and creative director of WATG.
“The colours are sunbleached and the Peruvian cotton is incredibly soft, ideal for little adventurers in the making.”
Every piece of the Baby Gang collection has been sustainably produced and hand-knitted using WATG’s Shiny Happy Cotton, which is 100% Peruvian yarn. Check out the site for more details and all prices.
