There is a reason why black and white never goes out of style – it is a classic combination.
And gearing up for Spring, we are going to be seeing a lot more of it on the high street.
Stripes, all-white and checkerboard prints are huge news.
It was also the style winner at last night’s SAG Awards in LA, with these actresses just four of many who chose B&W.

Julianne Moore wears Chanel, Juliana Margulies wears Chado Ralph Rucci, Anne Hathaway wears Giambattista Valli and Claire Danes wears Givenchy.

It is definitely the perfect combination to help guide us into Spring, but for one woman black and white is a style staple all year round.
Jo Davies set up Black White Denim in Wilmslow, Cheshire two years ago after realising that if you can get the three essential wardrobe building blocks of black, white and denim right, everything else will fall into place.

Speaking to MMM, Jo says: “I think its great to see monochrome taking off for Spring/Summer 2013 because I firmly believe in the power of simplicity.
“However, whilst the black and white look is a hot topic for this season, it has always been at the core of what I choose to wear and how I built my retail business because it, quite simply, works.
“We inject a seasonal palette through accessories and coloured denim and we tap into seasonal print and texture through everything else we do, in the muted and accessible tones of black, white and denim. We won’t be doing anything new this season when it comes to adopting catwalk trends, we’ll just continue to edit them down to their most wearable and most effortless components in black, white and denim!”
Here are some of my top monochrome picks:
