You know when you get a present that is so thoughtful it moves you to tears? Well I got one this week, or rather, my little one did.

As much as I LOVE the design, it was the work, time, love and thought that went into it that really made me cry. I know it will be on my daughter’s wall forever, so THANK YOU SC.
There’s something enduringly lovely about the homespun sampler. I have hung this one – made by my Aunt years ago – on the dining room wall.

But there is a whole raft of new textile designers creating modern cross stitch kits for contemporary homes wanting that retro vibe.
Emily Peacock seems to be the tapestry queen. Her kits sell online and can be turned into cool cushions, like these:

And at Notonthehighstreet, Jacqui P from Granny Knits has created a really lovely range of craft kits, including a beginner’s Union Jack kit.

And how fabulous are these designs, from cool home wear site Misofunky?

I want this one.

All fabulous, but not a stitch on mine.
