MMM: Chanel-ing a jacket trend

‘Fashion fades, only style remains’ – surely the most famous of Coco Chanel’s quotes.

And if one item sums up the genius of Chanel (apart from the 2.55 bag – yes please), it’s the classic bouclé jacket.

Such is the love affair with the jacket that Karl Lagerfeld and former French Vogue Editor Carine Roitfield have just launched a book, featuring 113 celebrities wearing the Chanel jacket their own way.

And like any good classic, it has its imitators.

Bouclé, tweed, tweed trim and large monogrammed buttons all instantly suggest Chanel. However I will never be able to afford the real deal and must be content to get the look from the high street.

Zara’s new range of ‘Fantasy’ jackets have a vague whiff of Chanel (No 5) about them but I LOVE THEM because of the colours, detailing and fact you can throw on over anything and instantly look smarter.

Perfect for Chanel-ing (sorry) your inner Parisian Princess.

Here are a few of them. Check out the website for all of the collection.

(The bright yellow blazer with zips at the waist is also a popular choice with most of the girls on Made in Chelsea,  I’ve noticed.)
