Work Hard, Play Hard and Be Kind (in collaboration with Birchbox)

When I was expecting my first child and blindly buying the entire internet, one of my favourite purchases was an Oliver Bonas print.

The version I bought was bold, primary in colour and simple, stating ‘Work Hard, Play Hard and Be Kind.’

We didn’t know the sex of said unborn child, but there was something so pure and well, MORALLY CORRECT about the print, that I bought it.

It’s been hanging in Charlie’s room for the past seven years and still makes me say ‘YES,’ every time I see it. Because in terms of him seeing it every day, is there a better life lesson?

So when monthly subscription beauty service Birchbox asked me to highlight their September collaboration with Oliver Bonas, they said the whole emphasis of the campaign was on the ‘Work Hard, Play Hard and Be Kind’ ethos. How could I refuse? The message is LITERALLY in my home 24/7.

It’s the simplicity of it that means so much.

Teaching your children that kindness really is the most important thing, that life is about working hard, for whatever you want to achieve, while making sure you have plenty of laughs and fun along the way, for me, is a pretty fundamental lesson.

Adding a bit of fun into your life is Birchbox, who, each month, send out a beautifully packaged box containing five luxe beauty goodies personalised to your skin, hair and your style. Should you really love a particular one or two and want to buy again, they give you 10% off your purchase.

The great thing about Birchbox is that you don’t have to commit to a contract and can cancel at any time, so it’s perfect if you just want to try a few new things you might not necessarily have heard of before.
