BEDDING: All Everyday Luxury from Sainsburys| Image: Sainsburys
I read an article once saying the most successful Airbnb’s (and the more traditional B&B’s) ALWAYS have plain white bedding.
No checks or colours – just simple, unadulterated, fresh, plain, white bed linen.
It’s easy to see why. Apart from a glass of wine, nothing hits the spot at the end of a long day more than crisp white bedding.
It works beautifully to calm down a space in an instant – whether you have bold print on the wall, a deep, rich paint colour or just want to tone with other light neutrals.
“Visually, the idea of the white bed is important,” said Erin Hoover, vice president of design for Westin and Sheraton hotels. “Something about an all-white bed connotes luxury and a good night’s sleep.”
Luxury aside, they’re also VERY practical (white is probably the easiest colour to match). And even when they’re slightly dishevelled, white sheets always looks Instagram-ready. In my world, this is important!
But with prices of bedding varying wildly from designer brands to high street stores, where on earth do you start looking when it comes to the ultimate in white bedding.
Well, can I let you into a secret? Sainsburys Everyday Luxury white bedlinen has to be up there with the best – and I have bought PLENTY over the years.
This whole collection is based around the idea of simplicity, quality and understated elegance (there are amazing towels that you’d spend plenty pounds more on if you were shopping on the high street).
You definitely make that ‘oooooh clean sheets’ noise as you get into bed too – the 50% cotton feels lovely against your skin.
Important mum point: it all washes really, really well and you don’t have to iron it. I tumble dry, fold neatly and put away.
So if luxe-looking pieces at a very un-luxurious price-tag appeal (£32 for a king-size!), I would highly recommend you take a look.
Sainsburys is fast becoming my secret bargain spot of the moment.
