It isn’t an exaggeration to say I have bought – and sent back – approximately ten pinafore dresses over the past six months.
Too fussy, too stiff, too little girly – none of them were quite right.
I wanted one that felt a bit cooler – something I’d be as happy going to a meeting wearing as I would knocking around on holiday with sandals and a tee shirt.
But I have just found this one – at The White Company of all places. I was checking out the bedding and couldn’t believe it when I spotted this totally on-trend, but completely useful summer dress.
And it’s perfect for girls with curvier hips like mine, as the lightweight fabric skims in a lovely, A-line kind of a way.
I know I’ll get loads of wear out of it over the summer as it’s easy, one-piece dressing. Add a boho blouse like this one from La Redoute, or a striped tee (I am obsessed by this one) and you’re good to go. If I had one slight criticism, I’d love it to be slightly longer – but then I’m no fan of my legs and midis are always my friend.
The flatforms are from Dune’s Black label and as they’re nude patent, they go with everything. The colour also helps lengthen short legs like mine too – always a bonus!
