S K I N C A R E I’m not sure when it becomes a thing, but for me spending a fortune on skincare is a definite thing right now.
And I know I’m not alone. More than one friend has recently admitted dropping a hundred pounds ‘easily’ on bulk-buying products from various online beauty emporiums. Supermarket products just aren’t cutting it according to these friends – they want the heavy duty, multo-expensivo derma care that you have to seek out.
Perhaps it’s the not-so-secret late night iPad shopping behaviour of the thirty-something. Whatever it is, I find myself scribbling down recommendations constantly to check out and purchase at a later date. The most recent recommendation was this Charlotte Tilbury Magic Skin Trilogy, which contains the award-winning Magic Cream and two new anti-ageing and youth-boosting products – the stem cell cream-elixir Magic Night Rescue Cream and fast turnaround Magic Eye Rescue.
They sure ain’t cheap, but the power combo of actual science and Charlotte’s real beauty know-how is a real pull. Plus anything that claims to make you look younger is surely worth trying!
S A N D A L S Obsessed as I am with the Elina Linardaki pom pom sandals, handcrafted in Greece, I have many, many carpets to purchase instead. This makes me a little sad, as I love them and also, they would cheer me up every single day. More so if it was raining.
S H A D E S Talking of late night iPad shopping behaviour, every evening, as I watch one of the four hundred police dramas currently on television (and yes, we are watching all of them, with brain-numbing perplexity at trying to keep on top of plot-lines), I love an eBay scroll.
I found the green vintage lamp-base (in the above picture collage) during a particularly important moment of Line of Duty. The palm print lampshade was a store I found on Etsy called Little Red Robin Co, which I found during Scott & Bailey. Couldn’t be more thrilled with the colour-match and the mix of them both with the blue walls. And it goes to show that a bit of corrupt police work can lead to some brilliant online shopping. Who would have thought?
S H I N E Last summer I discovered the lovely accessories from Anna Kreeger and her label M Hulot. This tan and yellow ‘Howe’ bag went with everything and had that cool, Seventies vibe I love in the summer. Their website has just had a revamp and the new season collections are now up – and I just love the chrome punch of this ‘Gia’ mini bag. So cool.
S H I R T D R E S S & Other Stories is my high street happy place. I love the airy store, I love the beauty products in their minimal packaging, I love the succulents in pots dotted around and I love the collections, which always feel fresh and original. If you haven’t been in recently then check out the swimwear which is fabulous – I am tempted by this one. But this shirt dress has all the hall marks of a fantastic pre-summer purchase. The embroidery gives a lovely bohemian vibe, so could easily be buttoned up and worn with stack heels and red lipstick in the evening. But my preference would be to unbutton, wear over the amazing swimsuit and with the pom-pom sandals. Ibiza-style on the chic, done.
