I’m having a thing about… pom poms

Love them or loathe them (but come on, how could you dislike little balls of fluff!?), pom pom detailing is not going anywhere in a hurry.

Last winter I fastened separate pom pom key-rings onto my handbag and loved the fact it gave everything – no matter how classic – an instant fun-update (a fupdate?)

And it seems that’s exactly what brands think too, because pom poms are still covering bags and shoes (plus, check out these clever clip-ons from CleoB) as well as clothing for this season.

They shoes a great party look – but flat styles would work equally well worn with a tailored two-piece to add a bit of fun to a more sombre work look.

And instead of a novelty Christmas knit, how about investing in a cashmere pom pom knit? Yes, they really are a thing!

Here are some of my favourites.

if you want to get your daughter into them too, theres a lovely book just translated from (I think!) Spanish called The Marvellous Fluffy Squishy Itty Bitty – I’m pretty sure pom poms play a leading role!
