My Style | Simple, yet statement sweatshirts

‘Dulwich’ sweatshirt, On The Rise | Jeans, MIH | Shoes, Laura Bailey x LK Bennett (sold out but similar here) | Long waistcoat, ASOS | Bangles, a selection from Stella & Dot and Accessorize

I pretty much have a sweatshirt for every occasion. And I don’t just keep mine for knocking around the house in – although I have a few for that.

The slightly more sophisticated, fitted style, such as my plain grey Isabel Marant marl is quite often worn to dress down smarter skirts. I’ve even been known to wear with a sparkly skirt and heels out to dinner – but then I quite like that I’ve-made-an-effort-but-I’m-not-too-dressed-up look.

I’m not the only one, because the humble sweat has moved out of the gym and into the fashion arena. Serious brands make serious wahoolah thanks to luxe jersey fabric, must-have slogans and statement embroidery. After all, with lower price points it’s an easy way to get a piece of the designer look.

In some respects, the sweatshirt has taken over from the usefulness of the fine-knit jumper. Find a style that suits you – fitted, slouchy, slogan, plain – and it’s a very modern way of dressing, working with almost everything from full skirts to tailored trousers.

The ‘Dulwich’ sweatshirt I’m wearing in the pictures is from a new brand called On The Rise.

With limited runs of 100 per sweatshirt (and they’re numbered in the same way as a piece of art), their whole raison d’etre is based around community and to ‘Love Thy Neighbourhood.’

So whether that’s London (Bethnal, Sloane), Ibiza (Salinas, Mighorn) or New York (Williamsburg, Slope), there will be a sweatshirt to suit your manor. My manor is just outside Dulwich, FYI – but it doesn’t sound quite so posh on a sweatshirt!

I love the varsity style of having a name emblazoned on your chest – and if you like them too, you can get a 10% discount on all their adult and kids sizes by going to their site here and entering a special EDITEDLTN10 code at the checkout.

How do you wear yours? I’d love to see…

I’m amazed there’s no Brixton tbh, but I might have to get Dulwich for my visits to the mighty Dulwich Hamlet. Right colour, too!

Ha ha! I was exactly the same – loved them forever and snapped them up in the sale! Also love with my & Other Stories porcelain print dress (also now in sale) and I wear with a chambray skirt and plain white tee xx
