The Edited Updater: Denim jackets rule

It is probably one of the most useful items you can own. Smart, casual, fitted or oversized, whether it’s bleached or dark wash – a denim jacket is the perfect transitional wardrobe piece.

And I have been looking for the perfect one since STUPIDLY selling my amazing dark denim D&G bargain (via Century 21 in NYC) on eBay about five years ago. It was brilliant Рhitting the waist  so I could wear it with full midi skirts or over sun dresses, slightly fitted, with heavy gold rivets and lined in their signature leopard print. GAH.

They ooze that nonchalent ‘yeah, this old thing’ vibe, particularly casually draped over the shoulders like in some of the street style images above.

Wear a bleached out, faded denim jacket with a smart dress and sandals for a daytime twist and use a dark wash version as you would a blazer, with cropped black trousers and a white shirt.

And even though you might be using it as a light weight layer, it is easy enough to wrap around your waist if the weather does get a bit brighter than usual. And that looks pretty cool too.

My current denim jacket is from sainsburys! I lost my beloved Gap one a few years back. My maternity leave wages leave little to spend on clothes but this jacket is amazing and ive had so many lovely compliments hurrah! Sits just on my hips so perfect with my midi dresses x

I just bought one from H&M after looking around for ages for the right style, wash, distressing, etc – they have a really good range and I sized up by two sizes in order to get that slightly boyfriend look. There was a Madewell one I really liked the look of so was out to find something similar. I’ve been living in daily, with black jeans, and now I don’t know how I went for so long without one!

I love Madewell too, it drives me mad that they don’t ship internationally to the UK. There’s a select range on Shopbop but I wish they’d just ship to us like JCrew.. I’ve even emailed then pleading!

I found ‘the one’ recently in Monsoon. I just love the little turn-back cuffs!

I wonder if creators of denim ever thought their material will conquer the world. Guess not. Denim rules for casual outfits.
