I can’t remember the last time I had a lie-in. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I had an uninterrupted night’s sleep. It’s fine <sort of>, every parent deals with this issue, don’t they? It just doesn’t make it any easier when you’re faced with a screaming baby every hour from 2am and a 9.30am meeting with your Editor.
Lila is currently experiencing what my At-End-Of-Tether Google searches are calling ‘sleep regression.’ Basically, this mean that at 19-months old she shouldn’t be waking up at midnight screaming for me, but she is. Therefore, she is ‘regressing’ or having some period of habitual waking *eye-bags*
A monthly magazine Beauty Editor (and mum of two) suggested trying This Works Baby Sleep Pillow Spray. This ultra gentle version of the brand’s award-winning Deep Sleep spray can be spritzed onto pillows or mattresses and the lavender scent is meant to send them off to sleep.
Night one and I had high hopes. It smelt delicious – and combined with her post-bath hair-wash, I could have curled up happily with her and fallen asleep myself in scent heaven. But at 11.30pm – zing, she was up and screaming. GAH. I will persevere though – if for nothing but the smell.
In the meantime, I am using the gorgeous NEOM Organics Tranquility Room Mist and candle which was – I admit in full disclosure – sent to me to try after I Tweeted about my sleep deprivation. Thank you NEOM Organics.
The smell is heavenly – a heady mix of English lavender, jasmine and sweet basil. I have been spritzing around the room liberally before bed in a manner I imagine A-listers expect from housekeeping. Even my husband likes it.
To be honest I am so knackered I would sleep through anything given half a chance. Someone though, has other ideas…
