Three and a half is a really cute age. OK, so I have probably said that about every age so far (apart from 18-months, which is – in my experience – knackering), but my son is being particularly gorgeous at the moment, while simultaneously asking approximately nine million questions every 20-minutes. One of them the other day was – slightly existential I thought – ‘what are bees for?’
So off I went, delving into my own small pocket of knowledge about how bees gather pollen (or is it nectar?), how they build beehives and how they all work for a queen bee and make honey.
Silence, as the cogs turned in that brain of his. And then, ‘Yes mummy, we like them. Bees are cool dudes. But we don’t like wasps.’
They’re having a bit of a style moment, are bees.
This lovely nursery from a gorgeous blog called The Beetleshack caught my eye, thanks to the custom-designed bee wall stickers.
I treated myself to the Alex Monroe bee necklace just after having Charlie, which I love (despite Lesley Sharp wearing the same one in every episode of Scott & Bailey). And I’m lusting after Bill Skinner’s honeycomb and bee ring.
Here are some other bee-utiful things. Sorry.
