I have long had a style crush on the Creative Director of chic US brand J Crew, Jenna Lyons.
It all started when I saw her house on the pages of Living etc, which was unbelievably cool and stylish. I mean, she had her own dressing room and painted circus stripes on her son’s ceiling – what’s not to love?
Each time I visit the US, I make a beeline for a store. I love their beautifully cut tee-shirts (not too tight, just right on the arms), their bold prints and the classics with a modern twist. Oh – and the jewellery. J Crew’s statement necklaces are amazing.
Earlier this month J Crew opened a pop-up shop in London’s King’s Cross, before it finally arrives on Regent Street in November (yay).
Lyons has been widely credited with transforming the company from a bit of a dull, frumpy retailer into a cult brand which brings in $2.2 billion a year and is loved by all, including First Lady Michelle Obama.
Currently the most high-profile woman in consumer fashion, the 44-year old was even ranked in Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People list and has a quirky, androgynous personal style which is the very foundation for J Crew’s look.
Jenna Lyons couldn’t really be a better ad for the store she represents – and she is totally my style-crush of the moment.
Mix up prints with classic pieces including white shirts or cropped black trousers and add in statement jewellery.
Here’s how to get Jenna’s look from the high street:
