MMM: Moroccan wedding blankets

OK, so I MAY have once decided on a fashion trip to Marrakech because it meant I’d be able to find the Moroccan wedding blankets with which I had become obsessed. Perhaps.

But LOOK. They’re so LOVELY.

Currently planning a revamp at home but ca

n’t bring myself to put the blankets elsewhere.

The creamy, sequinned blankets – called Handira – are made by Berber tribeswomen in anticipation of a wedding by the bride’s family. It take WEEKS of work sewing on all those sequins. And they thought they had it tough in the costume department of Strictly.

They can be super-expensive, but some sites online have a good stockpile. Try the lovely Maryam, whose gorgeous blog and site sells blankets.

Here are the ones I bartered hard for (3 for £100), plus the stool I bought in Liberty.

And here are some other pictures of the blankets in all their sparkly loveliness.
