MMM: Ash or Converse?

Whether you’re a mum or not, Converse trainers are the weekend footwear choice for many. And if you ARE a mum, they are a daily feet fixture. (The biggest UK selection is available at Office).

They even have a customise-your-own section on their site. Which I used (super easy) to create these perfect little babies:

But now the American company – who created the All-Star trainers back in 1917, fact fans – seem to have a bit of competition.

Designer Italian brand Ash Footwear, which launched in 2004, has gone from being a well-kept fashion secret to one of the most popular footwear brands around.

Famed for their wedge-heeled trainers, they now have a whole range of gear from studded biker boots to leather, embellished trainers. And if you are a fan of the wedge, a new range of pastel hi-tops have just been launched.

Converse convert or addicted to Ash? Here are some of the new range for both.

ASH:

Ash Valbis Grey denim Hi-top £105
Ash Viper Taupe silk satin vulcanised trainer £89
Ash Virgo silver leather vulcanised trainer £109
Limited Edition pastel hi-tops £175, Ash Footwear

CONVERSE:

Converse All Star ox low silver sequins £45.99
Converse All Star ox low double tongue enamel and leopard £41.99
Converse All Star leather ox low silver metallic £54.99
Converse Marimekko Ox trainers, £60, asos.com

Converse have also just launched a collaboration with Missoni to create styles like this:

Missoni Converse Chuck Taylors

And coming in as an outsider, I have actually become obsessed with these, from the Liberty of London / Nike collaboration. They’re totally out of character for me AND out of stock, but I will find them….

Trainers. They’re not JUST for sports you know.
